I think the mosquitoes hang around until October, at least at my house.

It will start towards the beginning of September and I love the fall here! It will usually stay in the 70's around then and start to go lower has October rolls around. Hope this winter won't be as cold as last.

Seriously....I have had it...I can deal with the bugs but right about now I'm wondering why I moved somewhere that is as hot as FL in the summer yet takes me almost 3 hours to drive to the beach.

*grumpy*
*moody*
*not looking forward to upcoming week*

This summer has been unusually hot for an unusually long period of time. We typically get hot and humid weather, but it doesn't last as long.

In exchange, you get four defined seasons - something you don't get in Florda, or in Houston, where I'm from. I can deal with the summer, knowing that we'll have a nice fall, and it will arrive sooner.

Claire is correct. I've been here for five summers and I've never experienced such high temperatures AND humidity (and sudden downpours several times a week) for such an extended period of time. There's usually some relief after a heatwave for a few days. I refuse to even attempt to fight with the mosqitoes in the backyard. As soon as you come out, they immediately start biting as if they've been starving.

It has been unusually hot this summer. Usually when we have really hot and humid days (like we are having), it is usually broken up by a couple of cool days thrown in. I think we are missing those cool days!

Sometimes in September, we'll start getting more of those cool days and by October, we should get some of those gorgeous fall days. If you can head to the mountains in October, you'll get that blast of cooler weather and hopefully, that will help.

Otherwise, try walking very slowly from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car!
