They are there, and so are a lot of hunters. The majority of the land surrounding the lake that is not designated for camping and day use, is game land. That's one of the reasons they don't want people camping "wherever".

I think this is a poor policy, as Poplar and Crosswinds are pretty big campsites with many loops. It takes forever to see all the loops! There are some very nice water sites, but after checking the online reservation system, most are reserved well in advance. We were even told at the entrance gate at Poplar that you cannot reserve in Loop E - it is strictly first-come-first-served but when we drove through there, we saw a number of "Reserved" signs for the dates of Labor Day weekend (most on the prime waterfront sites). No one can seem to tell me why that is......
Do you know which campsite is the best? All I really care about is a nice one with electric so I can plug my cell phone in case I see a snake a need a friend to come get me. I've been looking at Parker's creek, but I really dont know the difference with any of them.

Thanks so much for this info! I think we will go "scouting" next week!

Eels. Oh gawd.

My family has me convinced I can't catch a snake (I've seen "Funny Farm" way too many times!). I dont know what I would do if I caught an eel. Probably drop dead on the spot, lol. I'll have to remember to tell my family about the night fishing. Of course, they are on their own for that one!

Can you imagine the reaction when you have a eel thrown in your boat

If you ever fish at Jordan there's a very good chance you'll catch an eel or two. However the lake has some great Hybrid Stiper fishing as well. Course the down side is you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a water skier or jet skier. I try and go in the dead of winter as the fishing is still good and you don't have to deal with the bugs, etc when camping.....

I would probably faint! LOL

I went fishing for the first time two weeks ago and I was so freaked out about catching a snake, that when I finally did get a bite, I threw my pole at my friend and went and hid!!! I just knew a snake was going to come flying out of that water!

I think I might retire from fishing now, lol. Two weeks in, I'm OUT!

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll stick to fishing at the state fair where the only scary thing is the plastic fish or the fair operator...

LOL! I love that the question started with "How legal is it...". Those usually all have the same answer.
