Our son has recently decided that Wakefield might not be the place he wishes to graduate from. Does anyone have any information/reactions to St. David's? We are looking for good academics, but also baseball and band. Thanks for input.

I cannot speak to too many particulars, but I do know that St. David's is fully accredited by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools). Some of their guiding principles are here: Principles of Good Practice (http://www.nais.org/about/index.cfm?ItemNumber=146811&sn.ItemNumber=146810 - broken link)

They are large enough to offer a variety of sports and foreign languages. Not sure about band. I would send my kids there in a heartbeat if we could afford it.

I think that your family and your son would really enjoy St. David's. This is our second year. My son attended last year as a new Freshman, and we were excited to come back for his Sophmore year. (In fact, we wished we had transferred there earlier than we did.)

The sports program is great, and it was also a big draw for us too. My son plays 3-season sports and I have nothing but praise for the faculty, coaches and parent volunteers. Not sure personally about the Band program, but I hear it's great too. St. David's is a small school, so classes are small and the teachers really get to know the students and how they learn. The academic support is very solid, and nicely balanced with the sports so the kids can do both successfully.

I truly have no complaints with the school in general or any specific program. We were warmly welcomed as a new family and I'm sure your family would be too.

Thank you for the input. We are looking there as well as Ravenscroft. It's a big decision.
