Hello,

I have a couple questions for Wake County Elementary School Teachers:

How often do you do staff meetings and when are they done?

How often do you do Professional Development?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not a teacher, but my impression as a parent and a friend of teachers is that the answers to these questions vary significantly by school, depending on the management style and personality of the principal. I'd guess it's very different for elementary vs middle vs high school too.

In our school, we have a faculty meeting once per month (first Monday of each month, after school) and professional development six times per year on early-release days.

It will very much vary by the school and administrative philosophy.

I am aware that it varies per school, which is why I want to see what different schools do. I am just taking a survey because I think our school meets way too much! If it is not like this every where, than I want to consider my options.

Thanks!

Kid Talk meeting once per week
PLT meetings twice per month, totaling 4 hours per month
Staff meetings twice per month
Grade level meeting once per month
Committee meeting once per month

I know that my school has tons of meetings compared to others. One of the many reasons I'll be looking to transfer.

I feel the same way about my school. Way too many meetings. 2-3 every week, some times more.

How does Wake County work as far as wanting to go to a different school? In Florida we just quit at the end of the year and find something else.

Thanks.
