Now that we're back in the mid-atlantic/south I find myself wanting to plant bulbs this fall. What are folks planting/have planted here successfully? Where do you get them?

There are oodles of online bulb retailers. And some have great sales if you buy in quantity. I ordered over 500 assorted daffodils from Dutch Bulb I think it was but just google daffodil or bulb sales.

I'm gonna plant some more alliums after I had my first batch last year. They lasted a long time. Don't mess with tulips if you want something more than 1 season.Once you get a catalogue you will have a hard time keeping your order within reasonable limits. I sure did and be sure to use bulb booster and not just bone meal. Good luck.

Daffodils, Tulips, Hyacinths, and Crocuses. There are quite a few.

Usually the ones at the big box stores are good, but sometimes they sell bulbs that shouldn't be planted in the fall or don't grow too well here.

Here are some highly rated online retailers...

Goodluck!

This year, none! I have 500+ Tulips and a ton of Daffodils and Hyacinths. Okay, I said none, but I have a slight addiction and will probably end up buying more. I would really like more Daffodils. I've gotten a lot from Home Depot, and some from Walmart. JQ's right, they do sell some that don't grow so well here. I also order online from Premium Dutch flower bulbs - Garden tulips, daffodils and more - Brecks.com. Make sure to plant Hyacinths near walkways or doors because they smell so darn good.

I have had little success with tulips. I recall seeing on a garden forum that it doesn't normally get cold enough here for them. Daffodils are the best bet.
