Hi all,

Our family is looking to relocate to the area in the next month. I've got 10+ years of experience in marketing and PR and am on a furious job hunt. (Got the Mailboxes Etc. box address and local Raleigh phone number that rings through to my cell phone - love that technology by the way! ) Even with local contact info, I've had only a little interest. (Got two calls, but they were for immediate fill positions and I wasn't able to be there quickly enough.)

Are there recruiters or headhunters that specialize in marketing and communications? Are there businesses anyone knows of that needs someone with my skills? I've got a pretty wide salary range and am open to taking something lower than what I'm currently making.

Thanks for your advice!

Check out Aquent or The Creative Group - they are pretty much your best bet although for the NC region. I've worked in Marcom for 10 years and it was definitely a challenge to find work at first when coming down here. Good luck!

By far your best bet is directly networking with people at agencies/companies that you are interested.

It is a tight job market still; but not impossible.

For PR there are firms like FWV; Capstrat; Howard Merrell;

Advertising there is McKinney, Capstrat, Howard Merrell, among others.

On the corporate side, depending on your experience there are places like SAS, Cisco, BCBS, Red Hat, Lenovo among others.

But again, directly networking with those places. I would try and find a couple of days soon to do informational interviews in as many places as possible.
