I usually listed to 100.7 and 93.9. They killed 106.1. It used to be an awesome station with a good mix of classic rock. I listen to G105 every now and then. Otherwise, I'm on my ipod or Pandora.
I wish FM radio here would stick with just music and the necessary ads. and PR, and cut out the personalities.
Listening to FM, especially in the morning, is almost like reading someones Facebook page. It is more about the personality than the music.
If I want to listen to someone ***, I will switch to a talk station. But for the most part, I listen to am to get news, etc, then switch to my ipod for music. I have given up on the FM music stations--too much talk.
[quote=T|K;15989580]I must have missed the Raleigh rock station? Because I haven't heard one in years here! I never hear much newer rock on any station around here. Radio here SUCKS.
G105 you hear the same song, no joke every 2 hours
I cant stand G105. Used to like the morning show but it is the same thing over and over. There are maybe 5 songs during the daytime that they play all day. You hear the same songs all day. 96.1 is o.k.

Top 40 radio is the same everywhere. Heavy doses of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber all day. That's what their target demographic seems to want. What I like about 93.9 is that they mix in popular music from different decades.
Morning radio is awful here. No one seems to get that some people just want to hear music in the morning, and they all think they're the funniest people on the air. G105 is the worst. Was a fan when I first moved here, but can't stand to listen in the mornings anymore. 93.9 plays a decent amount of music in the morning, but even their morning guy is kind of lame.
I listen to 620AM on the morning drive then switch over to 99.9FM The Fan around noon. I also like to listen to NPR (91.5 FM) from time to time.
I agree with what other have said regarding morning drive time "shows" which is why I listen to sports talk radio. It's better than listening to whatever stupid game the DJ's have got going on.. G105 has got to be the worst station in the triangle IMO. The Showgram has continued to spiral downhill over the last few years. It's almost like I am listening to a live beavis and butthead episode. As other have said the play the top 10-15 songs on a 2 hr loop and it annoys the poo out of me.
For those looking for a more modern rock scene 88.1 the NCSU radio station has a really good mix of programming and I constantly hear stuff on there that I have never heard before....but then again it's college radio.
Sirius radio for me ever since I moved down here. I'm not really a fan of any of the rock/pop stations around here. If I'm not driving my car, then I'll listen to 88.1 if there's nothing interesting on 99.9 FM The Fan.
It makes me happy to see that 88.1 has received a decent percentage of the votes. I can't listen to any of the "pop rock" of "classic rock" stations anymore. They all play the same songs all day every day. The River is the absolute worst. How many times do you need to hear the same classic rock songs? Don't get me wrong, I love almost every song that plays on classic rock stations, but they have become so over-played. Thank you 88.1 for not being corporately owned and stuck to a corporate playlist.
