We're waiting to close on a house in the West Glen subdivision (right next to Colony Park), and I'm wondering where I can take my son to swim.

I see that there are a couple of city pools, but those seem to close so early in the year. Is there anyplace for indoor swimming once the outdoor pools close? Are there pools around where the kids can really play without upsetting folks who are there to swim laps?

I wouldn't mind driving a bit if the facility is a fun place for kids. And I'd also consider a country club membership, if that's what it takes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what city you are talking about...

In Raleigh, there's Pullen Park and Optomist Part, both very nice.

The YMCA has some amazing pools, both in Raleigh, Wake Forest and Cary.

Hope that helps!

Ooops. Guess I should have mentioned Durham as the city.

The house is in the west-southwest part of the city. So pools in Durham or Chapel Hill would work well. But I'd drive to Raleigh for a fun time (at a pool, that is ).

That makes a difference!

I have no clue about any pools in that area. Sorry! But, if you are in Raleigh, Pullen Park is my personal fave. Its just a few dollars, its all indoors, kids love it. Plus, there is a park next door with a train, merry go round, bumper boats, paddle boats and lots of places to picnic. Its really very pretty!

I do recall the YMCA in Durham (there's a couple) that has indoor pools. Check their website, I'm sure they have pics.
