Ok, I just moved here from Michigan, so I'm not familiar yet with what all is in the area. My daughter will be starting college next year, and going into teaching. I've found several colleges in the Raleigh area. Want to be sure I'm not missing any. What colleges are in the area? Say within 50 miles.

UNC Greensboro (further than the 50 miles) used to be well known for teaching degrees.

You will need to live in NC for a full year to qualify for in state tuition.

I believe East Carolina (the teacher's college) has classes in the area through community colleges? Might check at JCC to see what prerequisites can be taken there and transfer to a 4 year.

Get that year in, because I believe once you enroll as out of state tuition it will always be out of state tuition unril you finish the degree?

How far is Fayetteville State?

If your daughter is interested in being a teacher, you all may want to look into the NC Teaching Fellows program:

Home - Teaching Fellows

Great organization...............scholarships, etc.

You just moved here how long ago? As others have said, you need one full year to get in state tuition for public universities. It might make sense for her to wait until spring semester if you face out of state tuition initially. And, from what I understand, once you start as out of state, it's harder to get it changed to in state status. Good luck.

Hello! I am a member of Peace College, an all girls school. I love it here, more than I could ever imagine! If her GPA is relatively high, she will be offered fantastic scholarships.
NC State is also a great school; there are sooo many majors to choose from.
Meredith has a beautiful campus and a great biology and pre med program.

No. once you are an NC resident for a year, you qualify for in-state tuition.
