My family and I currently reside in AZ but will be moving to Cary soon. The base school for the area we are looking to reside in is Davis Dr Elementary and apparently it is on a traditional calendar. We would like our kids to attend year-round schools, as this is what we have in our current district in AZ. I know you can apply to get a seat in a year-round school, but does anyone out there know how likely it is that you can actually get one? Any info on this would help a lot! Thanks!

I honestly don't know how difficult it is, but I'm in the same area....my youngest goes to Davis Drive Elementary. My neighbor across the street goes to Morrisville Elementary year-round. They told me it wasn't difficult, but like I said....that's second-hand information.

We got a slot in Adams (YR) when our base school was Yates Mill (Trad) fairly easily. Not sure about other schools though.

It was quite easy for us. My boys were going to Mills Park YR and then they changed it into traditional and it was our base school. Highcroft was our YR option, so I called WCPSS and was told to submit the form asking for the change and it went through smoothly. I would think it would depend on the capacity of the schools and the availability of the track you want.

It depends on how crowded your base is and how crowded the YR is. None of my neighbors who applied to Adams got in last year, but one got in this year.
