Can someone point me to a nice subdivision 30 to 40 minutes or less commute to triangle park to start my search for a house. Dont really like cookie cutter neighborhood? If possible 1/3 of a acre or up to a 1/2.
Possible interested as well in a real nice condo complex with a Big pool and 3 bedrooms.
For the $150 range, Sugarland Run in Apex is great. No pool.
If you need a pool and are okay with townhomes, the townhomes in Scott's Mill (apex) are really nice. Also, there are some new townhomes in Heritage Wake Forest for that price. Both have great pools.
There are some very nice neighborhoods with large yards in Johnston County with Garner city address. Close to Hwy 42, just off of I40. The commute to the Triangle is around 30 to 40 minutes, but all depends on traffic and time of travel. These homes would be newer than what you would find around Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs.

Jed said "triangle park", but I think that he/she meant "Research Triangle Park". I do not think that anything way over in Johnston County by 42 is within 30-40 minutes of RTP. Unless you are able to work a 7am-4pm shift and like to exceed the speed limit.
Google Maps says 30 minutes from I-40/42 to Miami Blvd in RTP, but that's probably with nobody else on the road.
If you're willing to look at older homes, there are some nice 50s/60s homes in West/SW Raleigh under $200k in the 27606 zip code with 1/2 lots. Would be an ideal location between RTP and downtown Raleigh as well. Fairview Acres, Roylene Acres.
(Plug: You can find a modest three bedroom on over a third of an acre in my neighborhood of downtown/East Raleigh for only $100k at the moment)
I know of a nice (recently updated) 4 bedroom home in North Raleigh (about 20 minutes from RTP) for under $200K. No neighborhood pool, but it is walking distance to a city pool. No HOA, on about 1/3 acre, and many of the neighbors have their own pools.
