Durham, NC - City of Medicine (http://www.durhamnc.gov/departments/parks/signage_survey.cfm - broken link)
Quote:
Once the final design is selected, DPR will bid out the project for construction and installation in five parks as a pilot project, including Old North Durham, Forest Hills, Hillside/W. D. Hill, Sherwood and West Point on the Eno. Once the pilot parks have been installed and DPR staff evaluates how the new system is working, it will move forward with the new signage system in all of the City's recreational facilities and parks.
Thanks so much for the link, IndigoBlue! Which one did you vote for? I really like the first one. It's whimsical and fun. My only concern is that the green of the "trees" might blend in too easily within the green of the natural trees in the park. If they could add some touches of color - some yellow or red to reflect the changing of seasons perhaps? - then the signs could catch the eye a little more easily.
I voted for the first one too I think it will help differentiate it from random signs around town, and be easy to look out for. And it's just a really unique way of doing a park sign. I think it's a really neat design.
