The Triangle has fallen from its perch as the brainiest “city” in the United States.

Website The Daily Beast has released its second annual smartest-city report, which ranks the nation’s 55 largest “cities” on factors such as educational attainment and intellectual environment – think book sales and educational institutions per capita.

Not only isn't Raleigh-Durham the smartest city anymore, it fell to No.4 in the list. My question is, does it matter? are we dumber today than yesterday?

All of these "best of" need to be taken with a grain of salt.

I'm from Boston, but I wouldn't necessarily say that Boston all of a sudden got "smahter" and Raleigh got dumber...the whole thing is subjective.

What this does show, though, is that Boston spends more resources on education. Does that make them smarter? Well you know the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water..."

And I love everything about Boston, so I'm not knocking my homestate...just saying that these "best of" lists are rubbish.
