I think Capitol City lumbar is going to be your best resource. You may also want to check with American Cedar and Millwork. They may be able to help as well.

Depends on the species. You can find lumber on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. Ive bought Walnut from a guy in Hillsborough for $6bf and it was very good quality. Ive bought maple from capital city lumber. A little pricey but I didnt need much so it worked out fine.

If you are buying enough bd ft to make it worth the drive, call Wall lumber near the VA line. I don't see planing/jointing listed on his webpage right now, but they used to offer it. It was pretty reasonable upcharge a number of years ago. If buying a pickup truck full of hardwood you can save quite a bit over the local places.
