Hi all,
I am debating on suggesting to my family that we eat out for Thanksgiving. As a family we have never eaten out and since I end up doing most of the cooking I am really not feeling it this year. Maybe I will feel differently in the next couple weeks, but right now I am dead TIRED!!!!
I need some suggestions of places to check out for us to go. At the most it will be 11, maybe 13 people. I am trying to get some ideas at least by the weekend.
Who has done this before and how did it work out? The only thing I will miss will be leftovers. Plus, we cook almost the same foods for Christmas anyway.
Thanks!!

Not real intimate for your group, but we (transplants from MA) found ourselves looking for a place to eat in Beaufort a few years ago. Every place we drove by was packed. The only place we found room to spread out was Golden Corral, in Morehead City, and it was actually a wise choice.
Not that you will be at the coast, but there are GC restaurants in this area and it may be worth your consideration. Have a happy time!

One popular annual event is the vegetarian thanksgiving.
Even if you're not vegetarian, the food is delicious and you're in the company of many.

There's a brand new, very large Golden Corral on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, near Duraleigh & Millbrook Road. It might not be what your looking for, but since it's a new location (actually rebuilt), maybe they have some better food than before.

We did Maggiano's at Southpoint Mall one year. It was about $30 a person, but they gave you a traditional thanksgiving meal and 4 courses. They brought the food out family style and there was a huge amount of food left over for us to take home. They usually do italian, but for thanksgiving they do something special. It was one of the best meals I've had. I think they require reservations maybe.

I'm with you. I end up too tired to enjoy my family. They are all playing games. watching TV, talking and having a good time while I work myself to exhaustion 3 or 4 days right up to the Feast. Everybody offers to help but do you really want to have somebody messing around in your kitchen? Sometimes you end up so distracted telling folks where everything is and how to do it, it just makes it worse. And don't even get me started on the clean up.
So where in Chapel Hill is open on Thanksgiving Day? I've just talked myself out of cooking.
I feel better already.

Probably not the best choice for a party so big, but we did Angus Barn one year for a smaller (5) party and it was unbelievably delicious. I was just as stuffed as eating at home, but with a lighter wallet and no leftovers. I'd do it again!
