Good point. But Raleigh-Durham is such a fast growing affluent market along the Eastern Seaboard that it is inevitable that Wegmans will soon enter the market, probably along with Richmond and the Tidewater.

I am pretty sure that someone told me they actually moved their headquarters to VA due to tax incentives.

If you have these three nearby then you don't need Wegmans.

Lowes foods 7.3 miles
Fresh Market 10 miles
Food Lion 7.3 miles

We shop at all three and buy different items from each one.
We had Wegmans in NJ but it was too big a store, more like grocery shopping in Costco,

That is definitely not true.

Sorry to hear about your distaste for Food Lion and Lowes, perhaps you live in an area with older run down stores. I've been to Food Lion stores that were not so attractive so I won't use them.
The stores we use are relatively new and modern. Plus you can't beat Fresh Market for top quality.

Yes you can, Wegmans.

I've been to old and new Food Lions and Lowes. I don't like any of them. (The Food Lion in Youngsville has very nice employees. Rare.)

Whenever Wegmans comes to town, they will be history.

False, if anything they will be moving their headquarters to downtown Rochester from suburban Gates/Chili due to tax incentives. Raleigh is already saturated with grocery stores. Wegmans tends to open/expand in areas where there is not already a strong presence of any major grocery store chains. Kroger, HT, Food-lion and Lowes Foods pretty much have the area covered. If they were to open anywhere in NC, it would be in currently rural/semi rural areas that are expected to grow a lot in the future where there are not already a prevalence of supermarkets. Probably nowhere in Wake County.

If Wegmans does come here, we need to get rid of a few Food Lions and such. There are, like, supermarkets on every corner here. Something's gotta go! I have a Walmart, Food Lion, and Lowe's all less than a mile from my house.
