I do like outlets, but was very disappointed to learn a few years ago that most of the outlet clothing is made for the outlets.... so you really aren't getting that great of a deal. I like the outdoor mall type feel and the variety of stores. I'll definitely check them out, but probably after the holidays when the rush slows down!
I was hoping there would be some variety other than the typical outlet mall fare. For example, a pottery barn outlet. Or a Disney outlet. I was disappointed, however. Same ole, same ole.
I'm not going... but I am soo jealous of you guys who are! I love outlet malls, even if they do seem to all have the same type of shops. I'm just excited about having something closer so I don't have to drive to Smithfield! I'll definitely visit the new outlet mall before Christmas to get some shopping done!
No desire. The last couple times I went outlet shopping I found the offerings to be of lesser quality than what you found in the regular stores. I agree with the earlier poster that said that they make things just for the outlets. Not like it used to be when it was the leftovers from the regular stores. Used to go to BRooks brothers in Williamsburg, for instance, for shirts for my husband. Now the shirts they offer are not their "real" shirts, but cheaper made shirts. What's the point.

That's true for some stores, but not all. Also some stores that do that are still of the same quality. I use to work at Bombay part-time and got a great deal on several things including a four poster bed. The quality is the same as what was in the regular store, solid wood. The difference is it doesn't have all the extra details, which I actually prefer.
I guess I'm excited b/c the only outlets I'm most familiar with are the ones in Burlington and Morrisville. I've only been to nicer outlets while traveling very few times, and the Smithfield outlets are just too far away.
