I would kill for a bar in the Triangle that allows you to actually have a conversation-- not no music, but not the blaring loud music that infests every bar in the triangle.
And how about some real (ie cask) ales? There are only one or two places that serve them, since Americans haven't got on board with really good beer yet. (You all seem to think that to be a good beer just means being very strongly alcoholic, served too cold, an unsubtle taste and in a bottle with a camp cartoon on the side). Me and my friends pay quite a lot for the cask ales at the back bar in chapel hill, for example.

Problem with that is that you need a bar staff that is educated. . . . a cellerman more than just a server. I've gone to bars where I swear they don't even clean out the tap lines at the end of the day.

I beg to differ. While I agree that the majority of Americans want something ice cold that'll give them a buzz, I think that the US is spearheading a resurgence of craft beer all over the world. Yes. . . . . we tend to have a "bigger must be better" attitude. . . . . but we're getting there.
