So... this is a slightly awkward topic so I made a "throw-away" account to ask it. A couple weeks ago while in the shower I felt a lump down below near one of the "boys" and made note of it. Just yesterday I noticed that it appeared to be slightly larger.

Now this could all be in my head, but regardless I do have a mass down "there" that now has me scared. With that said I hope to track down and schedule an appointment with someone by the end of this week if not sooner.

This is where I'm slightly clueless. Should I make an appointment with a urologist that specializes in something like this or just go to an urgent care at my convenience (I have horrible work hours)?

I can most likely get time off so it doesn't matter whom I go see. I just don't know what/whom to see. I'm utterly terrified but know that I need to check on this. I'd prefer someone in the Duke Health System since I work in Durham and that's not that far away (so it's more manageable for an appointment and then getting back to work). That or I can probably do with someone over by Wake Med of Cary since I live over that way. One or the other.

Thanks so much and I appreciate any positive advice you can give me. I have group insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC (my employer insurance) if that helps at all too.

At Duke (Urology):
Judd Moul, MD
Brant Inman, MD
Cary Robertson, MD

Hope all is well. It may be something minor, like a cystocele (fluis filled cyst).

Dr. Tortora comes highly recommend. (He did my husband's vasectomy!).

I would also recommend Dr. Inman at Duke.

I have a urologist , Frank Tortura (or, as I call him, Torturer LOL), Wake urology in Cary.

I recently made an appointment with him the same day I found the lump and he saw me within 2 hours. Made a general diagnosis by feeling it and followed up with an ultrasound which showed it to be a cyst

Kudos to you for checking but don't freak out until you have something to freak out about - it's wasted energy

Good luck - keep the boys healthy

We also use Dr. Tortora--Cary Urology for my son. After visiting several different doctors, Dr. Tortora was the first dr. to finally diagnose his problem correctly.
