Wow, I wish I started this sooner, as I am going through what you were told about your son's tooth...the difference is, I like a fool, fell into, not the orthodontist pulling the tooth, but trying to completely realign his beautiful straight teeth, for the one hiding up in his gum...

I have been through the ringer with Orthodontist and even have had my primary dentist recommending his fellow friend (who is a Ortho) costing me $6 grand! I fell hook line and sinker, the way they make you feel, if you don't immediately get started that their "jaw line will be hindered, or that their bite will be off and never be correct etc..."

I wish I could go back and re-do all my mistakes!
I will say however, after meeting with 5 different Orthodontist and falling prey to two, I was pleased with my visit to Dr. Partrick, she appeared honest and forth-coming, and definately did not break the bank the way the others have done to me!

Yes, many dentists are no better than crooked car dealers.

We were saved by our general dentist who was honest to a fault. He agreed that he could do xrays every checkup to follow the progress of the un-descended tooth. He saw it gradually moving down and never suggested an ortho consult again.

Cosmetic dentistry is many times unnecessary and wasteful. My preference is to keep my teeth healthy but not dwell on appearance.

There's a lot more to someone in addition to their smile.

Glad you found an honest ortho.
