This may sound like kind of a stupid question - and I know I'm getting waaaaaaaay ahead of myselfhere - but if we move to a new city where we know no one, who should we put on the emergency contact form at our kids' schools? My husband and I both will be (hopefully) working full-time pretty much right away, so there really won't be a stay at home person.

Has anyone dealt with this, and if so, how? TIA

Each other and the work numbers. Not what most are used to...but what else can you do.

If there is an emergency someone has to leave work.

Chances are that you'll make friends within the first few months and the problem will go away. Initially it will have to be you and your spouse.

We're in the same exact place and after having been here for just a few weeks we already have one person we can use.

I kinda figured it would have to be the two of us, at least at first. And I'm really hopeful that there will be lots of people in our boat, too, and it will be easy to make new friends where we end up. Has that been easy for you? Is it easier to make friends in neighborhoods where transplants are?

A savvy out of town grandparent can be helpful for medical emergencies and decision making.
