I also saw the Omaha Steaks (online) is having a big sale this week, with free shipping!
Here's another recommendation for The Meathouse.

I tried Omaha Steaks once. I thought they were good, but found it easier to just buy locally. What was not easy was getting off their mailing list. It took several requests to get them to stop sending their frequent offers.

Streamer, I have had many whole beef tenderloins from Costco and I can tell you with all certainty that its not the same as steak from Golden Corral. They were excellent.

Someone recently sent us Omaha Steaks as a housewarming gift. While I appreciate the kind and generous thoughts, the steaks were not great. The hamburgers were really awful. My advice is to avoid buying online and to buy local.

I do Omaha steaks. I have never gotten a bad steak. They are worth it if you want a guaranteed good steak. Be prepare to spend 50 bux for 4 good steaks. Sides are a rip off.

Grocery can have great steaks but it's hit or miss and you have to know how to pick out a good steak.

I have been that the Meat Store in Cary, that is probably also worth a shot, and in between Grocery and Omaha.

I thought The Meat House was local, but they are part of a chain/franchise. I signed up for the e-mails, but they never send coupons. Here is a link to the corporate site - Your Neighborhood Butcher – The Meat House

Kelly,

I haven't been here yet, but you may want to check out Antonios' Gourment Market

It just opened up in Lafayette Village on Falls of Neuse (Across from Pipers Tavern)

Another recommendation for the Meat House. I am terrible at grilling steaks, but they give you tips to help. I typically just buy there marinated steak tips which are very easy to grill and taste delicious. We typically go to the Meat House about once a month.

Now, I buy my meat from a local farmer. It is organic (not certified), grass-fed and delicious. So I'm not a cheapy wal-mart shopper. BUT, I would never say the meat from Costco could be compared to Golden Corral. For store-bought meat, I would say Costco is really good quality. Golden Corral injects their meat with all kinds of additives...not remotely food or remotely comparable.
