We will be relocating to the Clayton area next year. My husband and I are coming to Raleigh over New Year's weekend to explore - and capitalize on a weekend getaway, no kids! We are looking for hotel and/or restaurant suggestions. We are in our 40's, enjoy good food, atmosphere and wine/cocktails! Clayton/Garner, downtown Raleigh and Cary areas are all possibilities and we are open to other suggestions. Input appreciated!

It's me again, with more info. We have decided to stay at the Raleigh Marriott City Center on Fayetteville Street. So now, where to eat and celebrate New Year's Eve, preferably within walking distance. Input greatly appreciated!

In addition to lovebrentwoods 1st night information, within 5 minutes walk of the Marriott you have a choice of The Oxford Gastropub, The Mint restaurant, The Big Easy Cajun restaurant and the Raleigh Times to name a handful. If you want somewhere special maybe the Second Empire if they have any places available.

Hi don't mean to sound like Debbie Downer, but depending on where you are living now, don't expect the "Time Of Your Life" in this area unless you are fortunate to already have family & friends in the area ! We have been living here for the past 3 yrs. it's been touch & go living here (Johnston County) having lived in South Florida for almost 30 yrs. and being born & raised in NYC.
Wish you the best, hopefully you will love it ! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year !

A few more good restaurants that are nearby are Sitti (Lebanese), Buku (global street food), and Capital Club 16 (American).

If you want to venture a few blocks off Fayetteville street just west of the convention center, Poole's Diner is also excellent.
