I have some guests coming in for the holiday and they like to stay at the Gaylord when they are in Northern VA/Maryland. I was wondering if there are any "really" nice hotels here in Raleigh that are along the same caliber.

Thanks ahead of time for your input !

The Umstead in Cary would be my choice.

Lacks the marina and the trendy nightclub but as nice as it gets in the Triangle. Book a room with a lake view ...

A bit of a drive from Raleigh and more "boutique inn" than the (much larger) Gaylord, but Fearrington Inn is a very nice place to stay.

The Fearrington House Country Inn

In Durham we have the King's Daughers Inn, which is a really nice B&B. It's right across the street from Duke's East Campus and just a few blocks away from food at Brightleaf Square.

Not sure what the Gaylord equates to but there is the Washington Duke Inn in Durham, beautiful golf course, afternoon tea, bar, restaurant.
The King's Daughter's Inn is a high end, small inn B&B sized tastefully decorated with lovely touches throughout. While it can't be compared with a full service hotel, it's rooms have much more style and class. Their staff offer very professional service.

Keep going west and you have the O.Henry, Proximity and the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.

I don't know of any places like those in Raleigh though...

The Gaylord is a huge destination hotel at the new National Harbor in MARYLAND. It is a megahotel on the Potomac.
