We just moved. The uhaul boxes are complete pieces of crap. The handle all ripped up on even lighter boxes. Also, the tape from uhaul was horrible.

I do love the uhaul wrapping paper. Professional movers use paper over bubble wrap. It's so much easier to work with than bubble wrap.

ABC store boxes are great, but most are pretty small. Last time I moved a few years ago, I bought boxes online for the best price. I think I bought them from U-Haul. After the move, I gave them away on Craig's List.

I see that this is an old post, but I want to put in a plug for grocery stores (all those cans and jars come in boxes first) and Barnes & Noble. I'd never buy boxes.

Actually, if I could not find them on Craigslist, without hesitation I would pay for wardrobe boxes. Just great for moving hanging clothes! Particularly if they are going to be stored for a bit.

When I moved down, I got boxes for free from UHaul. Yes, I had to pick through as some were in better condition than others, but they were still good. Wardrobe boxes I did buy from Uhaul, well worth the price!

Having said that, U-Haul had the best deal on packing paper. I'd second the idea of looking at Craigslist or Freecycle for boxes.

I love the boxes from Lowes. Those suckers are really good.

I have moved cross country several times, and the best deal I ever got was on-line. Just go on line for moving boxes. I ordered on line and they were delivered to my home. No running around! I am afraid of used boxes because of possible bugs etc. $40- $50 total for enough to move everything.
