I am cleaning out my book shelves and have several boxes of books to sell or donate. Does anyone know any used bookstores that will buy, or any organization that would take the books?

Thanks

My usual stops are:
Edward McKay Used Books & More in North Raleigh on Capital Blvd
Mr. Mikes Used Books on Kildaire Farm Road in the Staples/Trader Joe's shopping center in Cary
Book Smart Used Books on Maynard near High House across from the Kroger shopper center in Cary
Second Chance Books on Harrison in the shopping center across from SAS near I40 in Cary

I'd love to know of more myself, as I'm looking to complete a series of books. 66 or so in the series and I'm down to about 15 left!

Do they have library book sales here? Where I came from, twice a year the library would hold a booksale--not only of books they were retiring from their shelves, but also of donated books. They'd raise thousands of dollars each sale for the library. I bought many books this way ($1 hardback, $.50 paperback with $1/bag day on last day) and then re-donated them when finished reading.

I sell our used books on half.com which is part of ebay. It's super easy to use and the system gives suggestions of pricing based on what you categorize the condition (brand new, like new, fair, etc.) of the item. Granted, this means you keep the books at home and you probably want them out of your house.

You can take them to Guardian Angel in Fuquay. All proceeds benefit Alzheimer's disease.

Another option is Paperbackswap (not only for paperbacks). I've given away a lot of my books and gotten 'new' ones to enjoy all only for the cost of shipping.

I recently had just six books to unload. I took them to the grocery and handed them out. One lady acted like I gave her a winning lottery ticket so I was pretty happy (too)!
