I need to regrout the base of my shower. Minor job but I'd sooner have someone come and do it properly. If I do it, I can see it leaking again in 6 months.
Anyone know a tiler or someone who would do a good job at an honest price? I live in Hillsborough NC. THe house is only 2.5 years old and there is no mold, just that some grout has crumbled (probably with the movement of the shower tub over time)
So you didn't really ask this - but normal grout isn't really designed to be waterproof. The Tile standards actually recommend a caulked joint whenever you have a change of plane for exactly the reason yours has cracked. Walls typically "move" relative to each other (or floors). Normal grouts then crack whereas a caulked joint has more "give".
For appearance, there are many grout color matched caulks on the market. Even "sanded" caulks.
The best caulk is probably a silicone based one like Latasil. It just doesn't come "sanded" .
