This is a pic I sawyesterday on NBC17:

And I think from now on, we should refer to him, in Internet shorthand, as "TTT,"short, of course, for Tony TaTa.

Seriously, is it really too much to afford this dude just a little bit of respect and address him using his name? Why must political discussions lead to a need to belittle individuals with whom one disagrees?

What? An internet nickname is a sign of notariety maybe but not necessarily disrespect. Just ask JayZ, JLo, Brangelina or Gaga. I don't find ttt or t3 to be degrading at all. The respect will or will not follow his actions and has nothing to do with his name.

After all, few of us here use our real names. My name isn't really Sue, I just added it to Library to sound bad@ss.

I guess we'll know what he thinks about his new nickname when he starts using it for his City-Data posts. I'm expecting a query from him any day now: "Relocating to NC from DC, what neighborhoods are best for me?"

oooo ooo ooo, maybe he'll want that really expensive house we were talking about in November....you know the one....

JayZ, JLo, Brangelina and Gaga are all celebrities who have deliberately sought out notoriety. Therefore, IMHO, that places them in a different category from a private individual who's been hired to oversee a school district.

I seriously meant no disrespect to Mr. Anthony Tata regarding "T3." It was along the vein of using the abbreviation "NRG."

The man has his own website to promote the three books he's published in the last three years. He is touted as the successor to Tom Clancy. So I wouldn't actually call him a private individual. But then, I'm just a geeky librarian so I tend to think of authors as celebrities!

PS, he uses A.J. Tata for the purposes of publishing. So if we need a respectful nickname, we could call him AJ and not offend anyone.

Not to mention he's also on the national TV circuit...

Obviously, I have no stake in this issue. However, if I were hired for a position (other than TV spokesperson), I hope that people would judge me on my abilities, not my name or appearance. That said, this is just a message board, not real life, so whatever ..... <*shrug*>
