What's the story on this mini-chain?

We don't have it here, and I'm wondering what the scoop is...

It's in Brier Creek in Raleigh: Raleigh

Don't scare me like that. They are a great source of gluten-free foods.

Oh. You're in Texas. Why are you asking in the Triangle board?

It started in Asheville, and they have their history on their web page.

I'm trying to feel out the area for a future move and wanted some 'man on the street' feedback from residents, not the company line, per se.

Is it well regarded and frequented? More/less popular than other similar stores in the area, etc.?

Sounds like you're a fan, at least!

It's the only one in the area. It's not that convenient to me.

Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are far more popular, I think.

If I wasn't gluten-intolerant, I don't think I would have even heard of Earth Fare.

Thank you!

I appreciate the feedback.

I love it. Love the culture. They are very particular about what they will sell (no GMOs, HFCS, etc.) It's immaculate, community-oriented, and family-friendly. On Thurs. nights kids eat free in their cafe area.

I prefer it to Whole Foods--all the wholesomeness, none of the elitism.

Earth Fare is my 2nd favorite of that type of store, following Trader Joe's. Earth Fare has more product, but I love Trader Joe's store brand items, prices, and overall feel (plus location is way better). I do go to Earth Fare a few times a year though and their prices are decent.

I feel very different about Lowes & Whole Foods. Whole Foods is this big corporation that just keeps getting bigger. I shop there occasionally. Earthfare is the David to WF's Goliath. Earthfare is going through some financial problems, I believe. I never get a sense of entitlement shopping there. They also have some of the same restrictions, e.g. nothing with HFCS, no GMO's, etc.

Now maybe someone can compare Earth Fare to Fresh Market. I haven't shopped there yet, but my friends have recommended it.
