I live in North Raleigh and after looking at various fitness and health clubs decided to join the Y. It has great facilities, a modest initiation fee, and after that is only $37 a month. The staff is friendly, the classes are good and aimed at a wide range of abilities.
Has anyone seen the inside of the new Knightdale location yet? I am a member in Clayton but could go to the Knightdale location after work a few days per week. I thought it would be open by now but I called last week and they were not ready yet.
Peak Fitness leased out the facilities that used to be Beyond Fitness. They have different owners. Peak Fitness started in Charlotte before Beyond Fitness even opened in Raleigh. They are getting the bad rep because of the shady stuff that Beyond Fitness did.
I did read that they had misleading advertising but I used to be a Gold's Gym member and when I joined their advertising was far more misleading. All gyms seem to have misleading advertising...you have to read the fine print.
For the person that asked about their classes, I looked up some schedules on Peak's website. They have Zumba, Boot Camp training class, line dancing, different levels of kickboxing classes, step, yoga, pilates, spinning classes, step, H2O, body flex and several more.
I am excited about the Knightdale location to open because it will be most convenient to me. It has seemed to take a while but last time I drove by the walls were painted and the flooring was being put down. Also, it looks like they revitalized the parking lot...looks much better.
Actually Gold's has been something of a ghost town lately, at least the one at Celebration at Six Forks. They changed managers a few months ago and the place positivly reeks of neglect. Luckily <?>, there are far, far fewer people using it now, at least in the mornings, so even though several machines are broken, you can get to one. Maybe some new members will cause them to fix the many broken things (including the scale) or at least cut all of the locks off the empty lockers, that have been there for over a year.
