Hi,
I am thinking about relocating to the Cary/Raleigh/Durham/Chape Hill
area in the next 3 months. I was wondering how the job market is there?
I am a buyer in a mfg. company. I am looking in the price range of $162,000?
Am I priced out at this range? I havent' been there since the 80's but I loved
it when I was there. I currently live in the suburbs of Phila.
Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated? Also, what area's
do you guys like the best? I know Cary was voted one of America's top towns to live in.
Thank-you!!!!!!

Salaries in many fields are not what you might expect.

Research jobs first before taking the plunge.

How would you rate the job market? Booming? Status quo?

Kimbey, you're going to have a lot of opportunity down here. You'll find a job in RTP or any of the other major firms down here. Of course it's going to be a big move but you'll be fine. There are hundreds of jobs available every day in the Triangle. Good Luck.

The job market in NC is still better than most of the parts of the country. It all depands which field you are looking. Pharmacutical market is still hot. Most of the companies are looking for people with experience. Every one want a experienced team.

If you have enough experience in your field and a right attitude than I don't think you will have any problem landing a job. Apply for jobs before moving. It has changed since you have been here last. Good luck, I hope this works.

Manufacturing in NC is sinking.

Perhaps your skills could be used in another industry.

I was told by a real estate agent that researches this area (jobs) very carefully and he said that the job market change has been 0% over the past couple of years. This basically means that jobs are decreasing nor increasing at this moment but have remained the same.. which is pretty good. It will increase when some new companies come in, like Novartis in Holly Springs. (pharmaceutical)
