I know the school situation in Wake County is a mess right now. Many are advising us to live in Clayton to get into Johnston County schools but it may not be that simple for us considering where my husband and I will work. Considering Holly Springs/Apex. Can anyone recommend better schools in that area - and - how worried should I be that my children will get reassigned after they start this Fall '11? Thanks so much!
Granted I've only been here since last summer but I don't think Holly Springs suffers from reassignments. My son is at the school behind our house (Holly Springs Elem). My neighbors wanted traditional rather then year-round so were at the elementary school about 3 minutes farther up the road (Holly Ridge Elementary). Some other neighbors didn't want traditional when their kids went into middle school so instead of Holly Ridge Middle they sent their kids to West Lake Middle. The bus picks them up and drives them to that school which I think is in that weird Apex/Holly Springs/Cary area about 10 minutes from my house in Holly Springs. From what I can see out here not only can you go to the neighborhood school, if you don't like their schedule it must be fairly easy to go to another close-by school. That was probably the MAIN reason we chose to live out here rather then Cary (that and the school closest to the house we liked scared us thanks to info from this forum!) With all the upheaval and lawsuits going on with Wake ISD I wouldn't bank on them changing the current system anytime soon. Could happen but if I had it to do over again I'd probably stick with Holly Springs.
