I bought my last three cars off Craigslist. Just be sure to take the car to a mechanic for an inspection. Overall it has been a great way to get a car, but we did have one guy who tried to rip us off. We gave him a check for a deposit since we were going to take the car to our mechanic the next day. They found major problems and we took the car back. He refused to return our check and I had to put a stop payment on it. I shouldn't have been surprised since he managed one of the gyms that specializes in high pressure tactics to get people to sign up for memberships.
any additional thoughts on reputable used car dealers in the area (willing to drive 50 miles if i need to for a great deal). we're in the market & i've looked at westgate imports daily. i've also been checking hanna imports & anchor auto sales occasionally. then i check craigslist religiously, as well as autotrader.com for used car searches in the area.
Couple of my friends bought at Cary Auto Sales, Cary on Chatham Street. I am not sure about how good they are but it is a place for you to check out
