Coworker flew back to Minneapolis nonstop Thursday night after a week here. He claims the temp was 60 degrees colder exiting the plane in Minneapolis.
Then minus 18F Friday morning.

So the Northeast where my friends and family are keeps getting snow dumped on it. I think it hit 60 in Raleigh this week and the ground is clear. I'm not complaining about our weather. Where's this big storm?

I never believe these meteorologists' weathercasts more than 24 hours in advance. Not that they are incompetent but there are too many elements for them to predict. One thing I do not like is the hype they create several days in advance. More often than not you see only a little if not anything. Their predictions during 2000 storm and 2005 ice traffic nightmare are examples to support my point. Even the heavy snow they predicted couple of weeks ago fizzled out to nothing in this area.

It's looking like a very cold wet rain for us.

Just talked with my brother in Morehead City. So far it has snowed four inches there, and counting.

Actually they never predicted heavy snow here. They said that snow would be south of us.

No, they said it COULD be a big snow event weeks before. I kept following the news until the last three days when they gradually changed the boundaries and the intensity

WRAL is now saying an inch of rain on tuesday followed by "a few flakes" on wednesday. So has the chance for any winter weather in the Triangle pretty much dissipated?

Guess it depends what you mean by "wintry weather"!! Looks like cold rain, some flakes....sounds wintry to me, as I am from the South.
