Hi there. We will be relocating this summer from Florida to Cary. We are looking to buy in Cary Park. As it stands now, my son will be zoned for Mills Park Middle School. Obviously, at this point, there isn't any historical data as far as test scores go, since this is the first year it is open, so I am looking to get some parental feedback. Are your children happy at this school? Is it safe? Are there fights or really badly behaved children at this school? He will be going into the 6th grade and is coming from an amazing elementary school where he has been fairly sheltered with a pretty tight knit group of children, so I am worried about a huge culture shock for him. Any feedback anyone has is greatly appreciated.

We moved from Long Island to West Cary last September. My daughter started eigth grade at Mills Park Middle School a month into the school year. We have not been disappointed! Its really a great school! The principal is constantly keeping parents up to date with automated messages, the teachers are all very good, and I don't worry about my daughter's safety at all. There is a police officer assigned to the school (there is one assigned to every middle and high school) which gives me added confidence. The car pool line is well supervised by teachers and the office personnel are always friendly and helpful. I can see this school only getting better with each year it is open. Cary Park seems like a great place to live as well. Good luck to you on your move!

My sons were reassigned to Mills Park and we love it. The teachers and staff really seem to care about the students succeeding. The school we were at previously had problems with fighting and bullying. There's zero tolerance at MPMS for this-- students are suspended for the first incident. The only issue I know of is that some students hang out at a nearby shopping center after school. I've heard there's some drug dealing going on over there with the dealers targeting the middle schoolers.
