Your client should come and judge for herself. I can tell you though that living in North Hills is really nice. You cannot beat the location and convenience with a stick.
She is also in need of a very progressive, up to date Hair Salon (NOT Aveda please).
NOT Aveda? What's up with that distinction? I can't imagine why someone would specifically say they"re not interested in an Aveda salon, particularly if they're also interested in a "progressive, up-to-date salon."

I love the Regal 14 Cinema. Much nicer crowd than the Carmike Atlantic Springs.
Only downside is the high prices of some, but not all, retail in the complex.
Since it is split by Six Forks Road, Kane Security gives free rides on a supersize golf cart with plastic panels for bad weather.
North Hills is franchise/chain-hell while it is tough to find any corporate restaurants and/or stores in the downtown area (thank goodness).

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I do agree there are some chain restaurants, but there are others like coquette, mura, vivace, etc. The shopping has a lot of one-of boutiques, etc. Not chain stores at all.

The big draw for us is the Target Store. We go almost daily. We don't shop at any of the retail stores with the exception of Penny's occasionally. We rarely eat at any of the restaurants....well I go to Bruegger's often since I bought a "Bottomless Mug" the first of the year.
It all about the location for us. North Hills works so well for us since it's right smack dab in the middle of all the places we like to go.
I agree with whoever said the client should just come down and see it for herself.
Personally, I would never want to live at North Hills if this is the same NH I think you all are talking about. If you guys are talking about NH as that new shopping center with a few (I think ugly o.o)apts surrounding it, then no. It is just an overpriced shopping center that really doesn't have many places to shop at. I have only been there twice. Once when it was new to check it out and the second to eat at the french restaurant. I didn't find anything else that I was interested in. The clothing stores were mostly overpriced.
If that is the NH that you are talking about, I don't think the client would be interested in living in a shopping mall.
A lot of upscale boutiques that are too expensive to actually shop in but the ambiance is nice Is she's a coffee drinker, there's at least 3 starbucks within a 5 minute walk of each other! Tons of spas and salons as well.
Downtown if your client is into museums, theater plays, concerts, city events, parks, and tons of restaurants and clubs/bars. Not much retail at all. Closest is Cameron Village which has a lot of shops and Harris Teeter grocery store.
North Hills if your client is into upscale things like boutique shops and restaurants. Also a Harris Teeter, Target, movie theater, and upscale bowling. Need to cross a major street Six Forks to get to one side or the other.
I find myself and friends going to downtown more than North Hills. I find the Target and Harris Teeter inaccessible and never shop at any of the overpriced boutique shops there.
Downtown is much more expansive and nice to explore.
If you have a car, you can live in a reasonably priced convenient neighborhood and enjoy the benefits of downtown, North Hills, and even Cameron Village.
