We've been renting for a year in Wake Forest and looking to buy below 540. We're narrowing down to a house in Wildwood Green Subdivision, Northridge, and also looking at the new homes being built in Stonhenge. Anyone have any thoughts on those areas?

I don't live there but I golf there. Nice course and they are offering a membership deal (it's semi-private) till the end of March.
I was told that the Wildwood subdivision has there own water source and water treatment facility.

My mother and stepfather live there. They seem to like it OK. He plays golf a fair amount and while it is not the nicest course or poshest club, it is a decent place to play. It is a little wierd that it is not actually in the city of Raleigh, so in addition to teh seperate water and sewer thing, I think your trash service has to be contracted out seperately. I know when it snowed, I was agast at the fact that literally nothing was done to plow the roads there, while other areas were clear and dry a couple of days after the storm.

But overall, it is a decent location, close to things and good access to the airport and RTP.

What exactly are you looking for in your new home? Are you an avid golfer? Wildwood Green is technically a semi-private course, but functions like a public course. In my opinion, it would be in the mid to lower tier of semi-private clubs in the area. And note it is a 'golf club' only- no other amenities included with membership.

When we were last looking at home (6 years ago) we looked extensively there, and we ended up picking wake forest!!! For me, the houses we saw there gave us a more closed in feeling, and definitely needed some serious updating (at least the ones we saw) and we felt like for the money we were spending, there would not be enough left over to get the house in the shape we wanted it to be in.

yes, we golf, and that was an appeal, but not enough to tip the scales.

But there is a pool facility and playground for homeowners.

Wildwood Green is a very desirable golf course/pool neighborhood. The location is desirable, the schools are desirable and it is in North Raleigh so it may be a bit more pricey, dollar per sq. foot, than some would expect, if you aren't familiar with the area.

The homes were built in the '80s and '90s, some are updated, some are not.

Those are all good locations. Just depends on what you want in either school district, amenities and location. But overall, I don't think you would go wrong in any of them. The all are desirable.
