We are looking to buy a couple of Adirondack chairs, can anyone tell us where we can buy them? Preferably close to Cary. Not the light, plastic ones, but real, wooden ones.

We bought ours at Ace hardware last year. They are wooden and actually fold up. They were on sale for $29 each when we got them.

There is a guy in Wendell that makes them, primes and paints them all for $125 a piece. I think will deliver. We thought about purchasing a couple from him. Just google "Adirondack Chairs and Wendell" and his site will come up. I think his name is Dan. He also has them advertised on craigslist.

Garden Supply Company in Cary has them -- real wood, comfortable, non-folding.

Just ordered mine from the guy in Wendell. I like 1. not having to assemble the adirondack myself. 2. Not having to prime and paint the adirondack chair myself. 3. Can have any color I want. 4. Good price

Go to the flee market at the state fair. The indoor section has a guy who builds them. They are GORGEOUS. Not really cheap, but high quality. They are super sturdy and have great painted or stained finishes on them. I always stop and sit in them when I pass through.

We bought our adirondack chairs from the guy at the flea market - NC Hammock. The brand is New River. Great stuff, very high quality. You get what you pay for.

The New River line is great. We looked at those last year. Their rocking chairs are super comfortable too. If I was going to purchase ones that would be out in full sun and elements, I would probably go with a polywood (recycled plastic that looks like wood) or the new river. I think the new river is pricey because the wood they use is either teak or brazillian cherry...so expensive, but would hold up to the elements much better over time. The area we are putting ours will not see much sun, no rain...a covered area...so I don't mind the yellow pine painted.
