I saw the thread about kids' football and US swimming so I thought I'd post this.
Anyone here have any (ice) hockey players? My 13 year old has been playing since 1st grade and has been on a select/elite metro league team for the past 2 years. What's the hockey scene like down there? Thanks!
We also have a 12 year old who plays hockey. He was on a travel team here in NH and we are hoping to get him on one of the Raleigh youth hockey teams. I know there are in house leagues and travel teams. I think the travel teams have to travel much farther then what we are used to though since there are less teams. We may have to start him in house just to keep him playing. I am hoping the in house leagues are not just for beginners. We will know more once we get there. Soon!
Travel is hard here. You can go hours for ordinary league games. For this reason there are good players on lower level teams than one would expect. It is complicated (isn't it always, & everywhere!).
The A tryouts are over, for the upcoming season, but I know the Eagles have some roster spots. B teams tryout in August- rec after that.
Also there are so many people moving here, & so many changes with the organizations, that the hockey scene is a lot more fluid here & your kids will find a place to play.
