I recently retired and plan to play more golf. Does anyone know of a men's senior golf league in the Cary or Raleigh area?

I would like to play a couple of times during the week. Anybody looking for a golf partner in the Cary area who breaks 100 when the sun shines and the wind is blowing in the right direction.

Thanks,

Logman

I think Lakeshore has a men's league. You also might try calling some of the courses. I belonged to a league at the Crossings but the league went defunct.

Try Wilmar GC, Zebulon CC, and RGA. I think you'll find what you want at any or all of these.

There is a Monday morning seniors league that plays at Riverwood in Clayton and either Eagle Ridge or Hedingham. Used to live in Hedingham and still know people there and know this is still active.

Default Golf in Cary

If you don't want to join a club, there are plenty of opportunities to play golf in the Cary/Raleigh area if you are a senior.

Tarheel Seniors- 15 Mondays this year at various courses- www.tarheelseniors.com.

Triangle Seniors- 22 Mondays this year at various courses- www.triangleseniorsgolf.com.

Cary Seniors- Sponsorred by Town of Cary- Play every Wednesday morning at Raleigh Golf Association course. Limited to Cary residents over 55. Contact the Senior Center at Bond Park . Most unstructured although they have 4-5 tournaments during the year and a few away events at other courses.

Harris Teeter Senior Tour- Thursday mornings- Most expensive ($65 or so). But you get to play a lot of great courses around the state and they have a large prize pool.
The Senior Amateur Golf Tour, flighted stroke play tournaments for players of all ages and handicaps

I play on the first three now, but did the Harris-Teeter for 6-7 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a bridge director with a scheduled game on Thursdays so I had to drop off.

The first two charge $30 or $35, with prizes, closest to the pin, side skins pool. I guess Cary Seniors will charge around $25, only occasionally offers prizes.

Good luck......hit em straight.
Marty

I have a regular bunch of guys that I golf with (retired too) on an almost daily basis but I joined the Raleigh Fun Golfers a few years ago for a little change of pace. You might want to check it out: Raleigh Fun Golfers (http://www.wil-margolf.com/zraleigh_fun_golfers.htm - broken link)

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. I just joined 2 different leagues, however the Raleigh Senior golf league (plays on Mondays) has already closed their 2018 membership. I also joined the Cary Senior golf league (plays on Wednesdays at 9am) usually at RGA golf course. You can call RGA directly and talk to Rob for the details.
