We have friends who are considering retiring early and are planning to relocate to Cary. They like to golf, are very social, and want to buy a place that is low maintenance so they can travel to visit extended family often. They are looking for a 2,300-2600ish sq ft place with high ceilings/lots of light. They definitely want to spend under 500,000. Are there townhouse sections of Preston that might fit this description?

Look in Preston Grande.
Mid-$300,000's.
Grande Drive. Prestonian Place.
They may invest more in updating, but the units are brick, have garages, a variety of high ceilings, and a few with basements.
Three just sold, so currently none on the market.
Great location just off the Cary Parkway near shopping at Park West.

There are also some very nice townhomes on Kirkeenan, off Crabtree Crossing, if they want to consider three stories. In the $300,000's.
Garages. Some high ceilings on the top level master suites.
This is the Morrisville end of Crabtree Crossing, with access to Park West from the NW side by Sheetz.

Are any of those rental homes or strictly owner?

I suppose one could find a rental. I think the majority are owner-occupied, however.

Stone Creek Village. Very close to Preston CC. Upper 300's-500. Beautiful, well appointed. Walking distance to shopping. Several of my former neighbors downsized to Stone Creek Village from Preston.
