anyone have any current information on Summerdale? I've seen old posts from years ago about the builder going out of business, but a new builder has taken over there and we're checking it out. Anyone have any insight? How about the schools there? Herbert Akins Elementary and Holly Grove Middle? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into Summerdale years ago. The negatives:

(1) train tracks bump right up to the neighborhood...going to be loud
(2) Resides in the more "rundown" part of Fuquay (warehouse behind it, the more crime ridden part of Fuquay around it, etc)

This along with not liking how the neighborhood was getting split over to another street made us look elsewhere. The houses were nice inside from what I remember but not sure the target the new builder is trying to hit. I drove passed the other day and was amazed how little progress went out in these last 3+ years.

We live there, never hear any trains at all lol We sit out on the back porch most of the summer and still don't hear trains.

Never had issues with crime either. Not even a stolen newspaper lol

At least one of the builders (Perry) did go under. At some point it has been sold to DR Horton and they just recently started up the 2nd of 3 phases for summerdale.

Not sure what little progress you are talking in 3 years. With the economy the way it is for construction I am surprised they were able to do what they have done. DR Horton has done a very good job across the street and the houses are going up pretty quick in my opinion.

I think in a few years Fuquay will be a good investment. I'm hoping so anyway. Even if it isn't we have great friends in the neighborhood and my wife loves the small town!

Hi!

We are under contract with D R Horton and are shooting for a September close date for Summerdale. We love the area, I didn't feel any sort of "crime ridden" vibe from it, and the train doesn't run that often. I grew up near a train track and after a while you never even hear it.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me! I'm VERY pleased with D R Horton so far!

Good luck!

Kim
