I see a few threads regarding negotiation of propane prices around Raleigh, but I don't see any recommendations on where to look for purchasing my own tank. I just need a small one for the fireplace logs (100 or 125). I would like to do this in the summer when I can (theoretically) negotiate a little and after my current fill is depleted so that I don't have to pay the current robbers for an un-fill.

Any suggestions where I can look?

Try one of the companies that sell propane gas in your area. They rent tanks, and I'm sure they also sell them as well.

Costco sells 20lb and 100lb tanks. We even have a refill station.

I found great resistance from some companies (i.e. Suburban) in selling tanks. I've also had providers tell me that would not refill a tank unless it was their tank.
Just my cynicism, but it seems like the providers have these "rules" in place to make it more difficult to shop the market for propane.

Frank -- Yes, that is what I have found as well.

"Google it".....gosh why didn't I think of that already?

Sam's/Lowe's/Home Dept: I have not seen the size I need -- they only appear to have those little tiny tanks that are most commonly used for a grill.

I'll check on Costco....but the website does not show them. But since FluidFreedom uses the term "we"...I can interpret that this poster works there, so I can check them out in person.

Thanks!

I do work there. Costco will fill any tank, not just the ones we sell. Like I said, we sell 20lb and 100lb tanks. At the moment the price escapes me for both tanks.
