I am putting together a gift basket for someone and would like to throw in a few items - food and small gifts - that are quintessentially North Carolinian.

What might be good to include?

Some suggestions might be: Krispy Kreme, Cheerwine (a soft drink), Texas Pete, some type of NC BBQ sauce, Smithfield pork products, and pimento cheese.

If you're in the area - a trip to A Southern Season in Chapel Hill A Southern Season, award-winning source for gourmet gift baskets and fancy foods. or The Shops of Baileywick in Raleigh Visit Us have many local food items and gifts. The State Farmer's Market in Raleigh is also full of the same.

Good Luck!

The Museum of History, downtown, has a cute gift store that has tons of North Carolina items. Some are small and inexpensive, like magnets, keychains, candy, etc.

Sometimes you can find similar NC items at the larger Hallmark stores.

I'd include some Pluto's Marinade/Sauce: PLUTO'S CERTIFIED ORGANIC JAMAICAN SEASONINGS

Also, Cackalacky Spice Sauce: The Cackalacky Super Site!
