Thanks for everyone's suggestions on my post about typical snacks/food from North Carolina!!!

My last question - what about small token gifts for kids that are typically North Carolina but aren't food.

Or, what are some popular hobbies/sources of fun/aspects of North Carolina life that would make a nice little gift.

I'd like to include a little something for a 9 y/o boy & 7 y/o girl.

Thank you!!!

First in Flight was popular with my kids before we moved here...and my 3 kids have gone in 3 different directions as far as college sports - we've got 1 Duke fan, 1 Carolina fan, and 1 State fan. There's certainly no shortage of college memorabilia around here. If you go to the bookstore at Duke they sell other ACC-related stuff, too.

College item, maybe? (tee shirt, hat, etc) Also- Hurricanes? Basketball item? For the girl- maybe a Carolina Girls, best in the World tee. Something to do with beach and/or mountains? Cracker Barrel has some unique items-- maybe some are regional.

Also- the Museum Shop at the NC Museum of History downtown has a GREAT assortment of very nice NC gifts:
. (I would call 1st-- I think the toys change a lot, so they aren't on the website) When I was there awhile back there were some GREAT pirate things-- that was the exhibit.
NC Museum of History: The Museum Shop

You could also check with the Museum of Natural History across the street.

Maybe for the boy- something to do with the Wright Brothers? Or something to do with Blackbeard? Maybe for the girl-- something to do with the wild horses at the Outer Banks? A fossil from the area might be neat, or a small piece of jewelry with a semi precious stone from NC.

maybe a shark's tooth necklace for the boy? And also the little bags of polished gemstones. My kids always loved those, (but then again my kids might be weird )
I'm pretty sure I've seen both at the NC science museum gift shop.

Lamishra-- I'm sure I've seen you too! The bags of polished gemstones and shark tooth necklace are great ideas. My kids still love theirs-- and they are 10 and 12.

The Museum also has books about NC. Most of the book stores in the area, do as well.

I'm partial to "Good Night North Carolina".

I second this. They have a lot of stuff for kids there.
