We are not currently members of a local church and do not have people in our neighborhood that babysit (they are mostly retired).
Where does everyone find babysitters when you don't know a lot of people in the area? (We live just off Kildaire Farm Road and Holly Springs Road)
Our kids are 7 & 10 and are pretty self-sufficient, so they are not too difficult, just need to be supervised for a few hours now and then. We just haven't met anyone interested in babysitting in the area yet.
Thanks for any input!!

Meredith College has a "babysitters list". I don't know the number but you can call the main switchboard and ask.

The town of Holly Springs holds a babysitter training class. I'm sure they would not give out the names of the kids taking the class but maybe you could leave your name and number in case they are looking for a family to work for?

My daughter uses Care.com. They do background checks on both parties - those looking for a babysitter and those looking to babysit. You can use it for occasional care or regular care and/or nannies.

Suedonym, unfortunately I am a remote employee for an out of state company, so I don't have local coworkers. It is a great suggestion for people who work with others that have children of babysitting age. We used to find babysitters that way as well

go pay a visit to the local high school. a lot of them have 'community boards' for the kids with odd jobs, etc. maybe you can make a flyer with little tear offs (so the kids can grab your name/ number - interview a few and have a list of a couple you like.

The girl scouts offer a babysitting training class. I don't know if they maintain a list but that might be a good resource.

another idea (if your n'hood is an HOA) - if you have a community newsletter or clubhouse type area, put an ad up there...

We don't have a sitter either. We've been using Right Time Kids drop in care. Their prices are great and my kids love it. Their rates are competitive with what we'd pay a sitter and they're there when we need them. So far, we've used them while the kids are tracked out because I'm in class 3x a week. We've also used their date nights. We go to the Garner location, but there's one in Cary too.
