We're spring-cleaning and have a ton of stuff to donate somewhere. Any suggestions for drop-boxes or places that will take clothes, kids items, household stuff, etc? Thanks!
Another option is "Pennies for Change" (part of Durham Crisis Response Center) on Chapel Hill Blvd. across from Guglhupf in Durham. Their proceeds go towards stopping domestic violence.
I agree with Kudzu - start with the PTA Thrift Shop in Carrboro.
If not there, there is a Goodwill store at NC86 and I-85 in Hillsborough (straight up MLK about 9 miles north of I-40). It's in the complex with the WalMart and Home Depot.
Finally for stuff that may still be useful but you don't want to or can't donate, there is always the "Swap Shed" at the Orange County Landfill Convenience Center on Erwin Road, west of MLK. (And for what's left they have dumpsters for just about anything.)
There is also a PTA Thrift in Chapel Hill next to the Whole Foods that takes donations:

I've donated at the Goodwill just over the Durham line and been pleased with the assistance. The address is 4318 Garrett Rd - just off 15/501.
I donate all my extra stuff (clothing, household) to Caring and Sharing, part of St. Thomas Moore Church. It's a small organization and they are always so thankful to have anything. It's located on Fordham Blvd in Chapel Hill.
Getting rid of your UNC gear already? I kid, I kid
