My husband and I know we want to move to Woodcroft. We live in Durham currently and our little son got into Pearsontown, and our apartment lease is up, so we want to move to Woodcroft.

Where do we start in terms of looking for a rental? Management companies? Anyone have any suggestions? Drive around and write numbers down? Craigslist has not been helpful at all!! Too many apartments listed, IMO.

We would be interested in a 2 bedroom townhome, not fussed about the school zone because we will be in Pearsontown. I am up for ALL suggestions (except ones that tell me don't move to Woodcroft, move to X - we have already decided on Woodcroft, we just need to know where to start!!)

Hello, potential neighbor! I don't know of a specific site that exclusively features all rentals in Woodcroft. When I first moved here, I had good luck with DurhamRent.com. I just did a search and found 2 Woodcroft townhomes listed there. In addition, I think you should continue checking CraigsList. You can certainly drive through the neighborhood, too, just to see if you'll discover anything that doesn't appear on CraigsList, but that's rare. Also, you might keep your mind open considering detached homes (AKA single family homes). I've noticed a few more of those becoming available to rent or lease recently.

Note that the townhomes are very popular with grad students. A lot of them should be moving out in May, so more units should hit the market over the next month.

My son's little Cub Scout buddy goes to Pearsontown and loves it, so congrats! You might try Googling "Property management companies, Durham, NC" and call a few companies to see what they have or what might be coming up. Mrs. Steel is quite right--a lot of graduate students will be on the move come May, so continue to keep your eyes out. Good luck!!

I used to live on Pinestraw Way off Woodcroft. I loved it. Across the intersection (at Barbee and Woodcroft) is Auburn Village. They often have signs out about specials for rentals. Beautiful area; lots of great walking trails, pool, quiet and beautiful neighborhood, close to lots of cool stuff--including Southpoint! I would still live there but we bought a house closer to my husband's job. I loved living off Woodcroft and I miss it!

I recently sold a townhome in Auburn Square Townhomes and we went back a couple of days ago so my client could measure her closet. While there, I noticed a sign that said "for rent". It was in the front yard of one of the other townhomes. I really didn't pay much attention to it so I can't even give you an address. Maybe you can drive through the n'hood and you'll spot it.

Thanks, everyone! My husband is a grad student at Duke himself, first year, but we have been in the area working at Duke for five years. I will look up the Auburn Village. I might drive by at lunch (meeting my cousin at Rick's Diner) because I have to drop off the enrollment form for my younger son's daycare, anyway (we are going with Greenwood School of Discovery).
THANKS again!!
