We're going to have family in town next week and are looking for dinner suggestions for a birthday celebration

Any ideas for:

- a moderately-priced place where....
- we can sit comfortably and not be rushed that....
- has good food (of course!); open to any type, and.....
- maybe has a nice outdoor seating area if the weather is nice....
- or is even on the water somewhere (any restaurants on a lake?)

Location not really an issue - in Cary but will travel 30 min or so to Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh/Holly Springs etc

Thank you!!

If you want to avoid a chain type place I would go for Daniels on 55 in Apex, not too expensive, there's something for everyone.

Try Market. Close to downtown. Has gotten amazing publicity and reviews. A Greg Cox 4 star that isn't pricey.

My go to place is always Parker and Otis in Durham. Outdoor dining. No rush whatsoever. Moderately priced and everything we have ever ordered is tasty, tasty, tasty. Only thing I don't care for is their bland, mayonasie cole slaw, which unfortunately comes with every sandwich. However, for $2 more they will substitute fresh fruit or any curry chicken salad, or ....

You order at the counter and they bring it out. There are tons of interesting items inside to browse. Good coffee and you can get Locopops for dessert. WooHoo!

Afterwards, you can wander around an import store or Brightleaf or...

All in all, a memorable experience.
