One thing that shocked me a little, and I'm Southern born and bred but have only been in the 'real' workforce two years now, is how much I hear about God and Jesus while at work. Now, it may be the line of work I'm in, but I didn't expect to hear people talk about their beliefs at work.... just kinda took me off guard! I'm proud of my faith but have always believed that it's personal to me and doesn't belong at work, so it makes me slightly uncomfortable. But I haven't ever had anyone try to convert me to anything.... I'm actually NOT weird for being Catholic here so that's nice!
I've found it to be a mixed bag. There are definitely true believers out there and many of them aren't shy to let you know it, but I've only been hassled or pressured about it a couple of times. I just let them know that I wasn't interested in their beliefs and asked them to keep it to themselves when they continued to push.
By far, the majority of folks haven't focused on religion at all. There's too much football, NASCAR, basketball, and hockey to talk about instead.
Yeah, and I just want to clarify. There are definitely more people who keep their beliefs to themselves here, but the few who are "faithful" make me want to .
Been here for almost 4 years. Only 1 time has someone tried to convert me... in the middle of Costco.... but she was a transplant from NJ. So maybe don't consider NJ for your next move.
